I have recently discovered that alt tags are essential when you want to add a description of an images on your website. As most web savvy people know, search engines are not able to understand photographs and other visual images. That is why it is essential to add a little description in the alt tag code of your image. This is fairly easy to understand as you just add a short sentence or description in between the brackets after the phrase alt. Here is an example of what the code might look like.
<img src="JDM car.gif" alt="JDM cars">
Of coarse JDM cars is the section the search engine is able to read.
On this particular website about JDM cars I have taken a great deal of time to add some information into alt tags. I have yet to see the images show up in the Google image search directory however I am sure they will in time. Keep an eye out for images that I have added the alt tag too such as Honda Civic at import is 2008. In time I am sure this image will show up in the Google image search directory.
